Location of Maison des Lis
Maison des Lis is situated in a lovely hamlet in the St.Léger Magnazeix area.
St. Léger is in the Canton of Magnac Laval in the north-western corner of Haute-Vienne which is a department of Limousin.
It
is a peaceful haven of tranquiulity but is only five minutes from local
shops .There are supermarkets, boulangeries, pharmacies etc. in Magnac Laval, less than
fifteen minutes drive away. For a larger selection of five supermarkets, DIY shops and much more the town of La Souterraine is drive of approx. 20 minutes. Here you will also find the main railway station to Paris, Limouges and Toulouse.
For more serious shopping the city of
Limoges, famous for it's fine porcelain is approximately forty-five
minute drive away via the A20 Autoroute. It is fairly easy to drive to the nearby towns of Bellac and Le Dorat. The latter is famous for its 12th century collégiate Church of St. Peter. This is regarded as one of the finest examples of pure Roman architecture in the Limousin.
There
are daily flights by Ryanair from Limoges Airport to Stanstead, East Midlands & Liverpool
and by Flybe to Southampton.See the Travel by Air Page.Unlike in the U.K. the traffic on the roads, including autoroutes, is relatively light.
Our nearest junction is Sortie (junction) 22 on the A20 Autoroute.(Approx. 12 minutes drive by car).
