TAXES IN FRANCEThis is a quick guide to taxes in France. It is only meant to be a rough guide as I am no expert and am only passing on personal knowledge pertaining to my self and my property.
Peter Allen. 2008There are three main taxes that should concern you when living in France,
Impot (National income Tax),
Tax Fonciére and
Tax d'habitation (both a loose equivelent of British Council Tax).
Each year you will receive an income tax return from the Impot office. This must be completed and is a legal requirement.Loosly, the rule is that if you qualify to pay tax at all you must pay either in France or in your country of citizenship. Some may find it better to pay one and some the other depending on personal circumstances.
The tax fonciére on Maison des Lis is 269€ and the tax d'habitation is 231€ giving a combined total of 500€ or a little under £400. This compares with a £1000 plus per year in the U.K. These figures are for 2008.
